The basic coverages provided under an auto insurance policy come under two parts:  liability coverage, and physical damage coverage for your vehicle.  Liability coverage insures that if you are in accident, in which you are determined to be at fault, your insurance will pay for bodily injury to the other party, and/or property damage to their vehicle, up to the limits you choose for your policy.

 

   Physical damage coverage provides for the repair or replacement of your vehicle should it be damaged in a collision.  It also provides coverage for theft, vandalism, glass breakage, hail damage, etc.  This is called Other Than Collision, or Comprehensive, coverage.
